i'm feeling like i've lost my words this week. i can't decide if i just don't have much to say, or if i'm having a hard time expressing myself. i think i must be in observation mode this week. i will say that i've realized again how much i love my social work life this week. though orientation is always a bit overwhelming, i can tell that i'll be happy. i love the fast paced environment of working in the hospital. i love getting things done and finding the answers. i love problem solving. i love really complex social cases. i love chatting with my coworkers and smiling when i walk down the hallways. i love knowing the answers and if i don't know the answers, i love finding them. and i LOVE collecting resources - where to go, who to call, who has the best options to offer to patients and families. i get really excited about this stuff. it's such a nice balance to my art life.
my friend roxanna was down from portland for a quick visit this week. it was wonderful to have her. this is one of my favorite photos of roxanna having a laughing fit. she is a laugher, and lives for inspiration. and the girl is inspired!

Hi Kelly! Thanks for your post on my blog. I thought Devil's Teeth was great. I'd love to take a whale-watching day trip around those islands. I checked out your artwork - I love your paintings - the color and texture.
I love your new look, also. I really liked what you had to say about the balance between your art life and your work life. I have been having a hard time, feeling like I have to somehow decide which I want, an art life or a work life. I love my work (I am a massage therapist, and I like the helping people aspect of it) but some antiquated messaage in my brain keeps saying that I have to CHOOSE.
Your recent musings on your new job have helped me get some clarity in my own situation.

It is great that you enjoy your work so much. I felt that way teaching. Being a sahm is wonderful in many ways and I wouldn't trade it, but I do sometimes miss the finding a concrete answer to a problem vs hoping I am doing the right thing as a parent:)
With a name as powerful as Roxanna, one has no choice but to be a joy to be around.
